In My World-Part 1

The way I was introduced to the corona virus was a news piece announcing that Corona Beer Company was upset because people thought this flu like sickness was somehow connected to their product. And from that day forward life as we knew it was never the same.

We started hearing that this corona virus came from China. It was highly contagious. We were encouraged to wear masks out in public. People started getting sick. Hospitals started filling up across the U.S. There were not enough ventilators; not enough equipment to help people coming to the hospitals; Retired nurses, doctors and others in the health care field came to help in different parts of the country because there were not enough health care personnel to take care of the sick. People were now being strongly encouraged to stay home because this virus was highly contagious. Most people did. It was almost eerie to go out because the streets were empty. Schools closed. After a couple of months some companies sent workers home to work from home; some places lets workers go; some of the smaller companies had to close temporarily; many people went home without jobs.

The hardest part that was hitting me was not being able to spend time with our grandchildren. They were staying home because their schools were closed and we were home. It seemed like the perfect time to all take a vacation. Right? And yet we couldn’t. Places were closed, we were asked to stay home, corona highly contagious, and so we couldn’t go. It was a lonely time in so many ways.

Playgrounds sit idle, parking lots are empty, stores are closed, restaurants are closed, theatres are closed, all places of entertainment sit empty; everywhere seems ghost like.

The world was indeed becoming a different and somewhat unrecognizable place.
