Spiritual Warfare and Struggles We Face In Life

By Anne Donegan Costas

Spiritual Struggle or spiritual warfare are real and part of life.   They can, however, cause me to question my logic, decisions I make or to question myself unnecessarily.

There is nothing wrong with questioning ourselves regarding decisions we have made.  It may even be a good idea to rethink a decision to feel confident we have made the best one.  Even though our spiritual struggles are real we want to make sure our decisions are not based on faulty reasoning or selfish motives.   I think we need to be careful when the spiritual challenge takes our eyes off of God.  Anytime my eyes look away from God I get in trouble.  Making wrong decisions is one of the things that tends to be easy when my faith is being challenged.

The Best Choice

What do you do when you stray from God?   When I stray I may make poor decisions, have poor behavior, quit going to church or look to others for answers instead of God.

Once I determine that I have made the best decision for me (and my circumstances at the time) I want to move on.  It is here I feel challenged if someone or something continues to chip away at me about that decision. When I realize what is happening I feel as though it may be an attempt to get me to be someone other than who I am. When my circumstances and fears start wreaking havoc with my faith or cause my mind to take me down an unhealthy path I turn to my prayer warrior friends.

Godly Friends

When I feel a spiritual struggle going on it is my Godly friends I seek.  Many people call them prayer warriors because they are the people who will pray fervently for you anytime you call on them.  Prayer Warriors are typically those who have experienced loss and love, hardship and pain and yet have learned that God is bigger than all the earthly fears and losses.  I rely on a group of God-fearing, God-loving women.  They are the Hands of God helping here on earth.  My prayer partners keep me girded up and provide me with support.  They remind me through scripture, encouraging words, and experiences to rely on God for strength.  These are the people who will pray for me when I am unable to pray for myself.

Feeling Blessed

Many of these friends have been a part of my life for years as I have theirs.  I also have met new friends through life experiences that become prayer partners.   My prayer partners are people who have a relationship with the Lord.  We are available for one another on short notice. The blessings that come with these kinds of friendships rooted in the Christian faith are huge.  They have the ability to bring hope, promise and light into our life.

Conclusion

Pray warriors are always needed.  My prayer warriors pray for each other always.  I cannot imagine going through life without friends who pray for me as I for them.  I am blessed to call them friends.  If you don’t have a group of friends who pray for you and you for them find some.  Talk to your priest, pastor or someone who has a close walk with God about finding a prayer partner.  Ask God to show you who to ask or how to go about finding one.  You are never alone.  Life is full of struggles, hardships and warfare.  We need people to pray for us.    May God bless you on your journey.

Stay well.  Talk soon.
